How to make crayon art.

It's a craze taking over the Internet and I have been guilty of sharing several pics on Pinterest. This weekend I gave it a go myself! Here's my step by step guide on making crayon art...

Materials - crayons, canvas, superglue/ glue gun, hairdryer 

1. I started by arranging my crayons in order, making sure they filled the top of the canvas. 

I bought 2 packs of 24 crayons, disregarding the dark colours brown, black etc. 

2. Once happy I superglued the crayons to the canvas. This was probably the hardest part. Apply the glue along on reverse of the crayon, there is a crease in the paper to follow which helps. 

3. Leave to dry. I left mine overnight but that was just to be super sure. A couple of hours would have sufficed. 

4. The fun part...melting!!

I covered my floor and wall with bin bags as I heard it could be messy and I'm glad I did. 

On a warm low heat I started melting the crayons, working from left to right, focusing on the middle to end of the crayon.

The crayons go glossy and then start to drip. You can continue and focus on the top or move the air over the drip allowing it to flow down the canvas. Move the hairdryer around in a small circle to get even drips. 

Repeat this step across all the crayons, creating the pattern desired. It took me about 20-30mins to create mine and I'm delighted with the results. I could have continued but there's a fine line of going too far. 

Voila... Crayon Art! 

The next step...to make more!! This is a cheep and cheerful piece of art to make and some pieces sell on Esty for £20+...I need to get creating!

Christmas Cards

It's beginning to be feel a lot like Christmas..yay!

When buying a cup of tea earlier today the cashier wished me a 'Merry Christmas'... now hold up, stop right there we are in November! Now I love Christmas but that is too early for me! When I questioned this he replied saying 'well it's exactly six weeks today till boxing day', he had a point making it 48 sleeps till Christmas day...yipee! 

Filled with this Christmas cheer, I had a sudden urge when home to watch Home Alone (quite possibly one of the best Christmas films of all time), drink hot chocolate and to make Christmas cards. Well I ended up watching Gossip Girl instead (my favourite TV program) and I've run out of hot chocolate but I did make some Christmas cards. 

Sketched out in pencil first and then covered over in a gel pen, these cute little cards where simple and cheep to make and add a personalised touch to the festive season.

Movember!!

Happy November or should I say Movember! In aid of Testicular Cancer, men will be showing their support this month by growing tash's. For those of us who can not sport a tash you can show your support in many other ways and thanks to the high street there are lots of pieces of moustache merchandise up for grabs, New Look in particular have loads!!
Here is a little something which I made earlier this year for a friend for her birthday, she is a major fan of the tash!!

My fiancé and I have been together for 5 and 1/2 years and have been engaged 5 years 2 months! Time has flown but I still know that he is the one! Happy Anniversary! 
I've been teased at work for celebrating this anniversary as it's not a year precisely but you know what I don't care! Every moment is one to cherish and this one will be significant in it's own way!

Home Sweet Heart

This summer I gave my flat a fresh lick of paint and on a roll I took to some finishing touches too. Being a keen sewer there's always lots of crafty pieces in my flat including boxes and boxes of fabric. I think we all have one of those boxes filled with, 'oooo i love that material, but I'm saving it for something special'. I am guilty of this and as a self confessed hoarder I've always got fabric to hand! 

Saving and utilising scraps from a recent bunting project (I knew I was saving them for something) I set about making some art for the flat! I hope you like the results...my bedroom certainly does!
