Tis the season to...sparkle

Marks & Spencer I believe in 'magic and sparkle'. If anything I don't think there is enough of either! It's time to bring back the magic beginning with some sparkle...

It's that beautiful time of year again...Christmas! What better way to get in the festive mood on a chilly weekday eve than to make some Christmas cards of course.

Inspired by a wall decoration found on Pinterest, these pretty, handmade cards were born.

Simple, yet effective. Traditional, yet modern. And most importantly full of sparkle!

These cards are easy to replicate but we're not going to lie they are time consuming to produce, taking up to 2 hours, but we think the results are worth it.

To make you will need:
- card
- thread
- needle
- assortment of beads and sequins (with holes)
- tape
- pen

To make:
1. Draw a tree outline onto the card.
2. Thread a needle with green thread and tie a knot in the bottom (so the beads don't fall off).
3. Thread the beads and sequins onto the thread and repeat.
4. One you have enough, start at the top with the knotted end of the thread and zig zag the thread down the tree like tinsel.
5. Secure the thread with tape as you go.
6. Towards the end add more beads if needed.
7. Tie thread in knot at end and tape, cutting off the remaining thread.
8. Finish by adding a star sequin at the top.
Ta da!

We hope you enjoy making them as much as we did!

Christmas Cat Cross Stitch

Another little cross stitch pattern completed...one more down in the run up to Christmas. I've done something I have always wanted to do but never been brave enough and plucked up courage this week to do this cross stitch on the tram on the way to work. Yes I got some funny, inquisitive looks but I don't care! I am embracing my skill as it is something to be proud of. I'm surprised you don't see more people doing it.

My plan is to make this into a Christmas ornament which can be hung on the tree. I am going to give to my fiances mum with her Christmas card in honor of the new member of the family her new kitten Legolas. I'm not a massive fan of cats but this pic does make me go arrr...don't you agree.

In other news I have stumbled across a couple of new blogs today which I have been inspired by. Another craft item to add to the Christmas list is this Christmas pudding pinata, found on http://peasandneedles.blogspot.co.uk/ I think it will be great fun to do with friends and family this Christmas, as long as no one gets injured!

Snowman Cross Stitch

Take on snowman cross stitch kit, 1hr and 1/2 later and voila!!

This took me about 1hr and 1/2 to do when I got home from work tonight in between having my tea and watching telly. It was the perfect break and down time to have on a Monday night before netball. I'm chuffed with the results and how quick it was to stitch.

My plan is to do a couple of these between now and Christmas on my hour tram journey to and from work...I will not be embarrassed about sewing in public. It's a skill I need to be proud of and embrace with pride!

Christmas Cards

It's beginning to be feel a lot like Christmas..yay!

When buying a cup of tea earlier today the cashier wished me a 'Merry Christmas'... now hold up, stop right there we are in November! Now I love Christmas but that is too early for me! When I questioned this he replied saying 'well it's exactly six weeks today till boxing day', he had a point making it 48 sleeps till Christmas day...yipee!

Filled with this Christmas cheer, I had a sudden urge when home to watch Home Alone (quite possibly one of the best Christmas films of all time), drink hot chocolate and to make Christmas cards. Well I ended up watching Gossip Girl instead (my favourite TV program) and I've run out of hot chocolate but I did make some Christmas cards.

Sketched out in pencil first and then covered over in a gel pen, these cute little cards where simple and cheep to make and add a personalised touch to the festive season.
